redefining what it means to be a wench through the FORCES of clothing and community.

THE WENCHES MISSION

TO EMPOWER YOU THROUGH EVERY STITCH AND SEAM, INFUSING YOUR wardrobe AND YOUR soul WITH THE SPIRIT OF expression and authenticity.

Wenches isn’t just a brand – it’s a fabulous rebellion in fabric form.

OUR creationS ARE not just attire; they are ARMOR for the spirited, birthed to celebrate individuality and inclusivity.

AND THEN THERE WERE WENCHES

Picture this: It's New Year's Eve 2018, and there we are, a group of friends around a fire at popular desert gathering, Coalesce, giggling over the word "wench."

Then, bam! Lightbulb moment. What if we could transform 'wench' from a word that raised eyebrows to one that raised spirits?

Fast forward to now, and we're not just restoring the word; we're bedazzling it and strutting it down the runway. Wenches is for anyone who is done with the humdrum and ready to slay in bold, edgy threads that whisper sweet nothings about inclusivity and self-love.

At Wenches, we believe in the power of community and liberation, but we approach it with a touch of light-heartedness and a dash of sarcasm.

We’re growing this vibrant community to create not just clothes, but experiences that resonate outside of the norm; be it at a music festival or on the bustling streets of urban landscapes. We are committed to showing up, authentically and passionately, to create something extraordinary - together.

Wenches is a movement, a collective journey of individuals who dare to express, stand out, and above all, be unapologetically themselves.

WHAT’S UP WITH THE WORD “WENCH”?

We want to take a moment and acknowledge the historical relevance of our namesake and how its past usage is a driving force behind our effort to change how the word wench is perceived now and into the future.

The dictionary defines "wench" simply as “a young woman or girl.” But if you dig deeper, it’s clear that at the height of its use the term was far from positive. It was often used derogatorily toward women of lower social classes, sex workers, and in many regions, enslaved Black women. It was a term born of patriarchy, used as a weapon against women, and now we’re reclaiming it.

Today, we see feminist movements taking back inherently misogynistic language all the time. Just look at the rebranding of "bitch" during the 2010s Girl Boss era, and now in 2024 "cunt" is having its moment.

Well, “wench” is here now too and it’s joining the party.
